Madison County Sportsmen's Club
The shooting range known as the Ulon H. Marrs shooting range is home to the Madison County Sportsmen's Club. In 2004 we completed our 1200 square foot clubhouse. Our current membership is over 60 individuals and families. The club has an exemplary safety record throughout it's existence. Safety is stressed at all levels and most of our members hold credentials as range safety officers.
We regularly hold competitive events in trapshooting, sporting clays, rifle pistol and archery. Our monthly Sporting Clay event averages around 100 shooters from all over Iowa. Each event features a new course with varying difficulty on the stations.
The range and clubhouse are the home facilities for the Madison County Sharpshooters our 4H shooting club. 4-H Shooting Sports is a rapidly growing project within 4-H that currently encompasses 65 Iowa counties with more than 400 trained instructors. Since 2001 the club has trained over 80 youth in the safe handling and use of firearms. In 2004 and 2005 we played host to the Iowa State 4-H Shooting Sports championships.
Our club meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the month starting at 7:00 PM. Come by and visit one of our meetings to find out more about us. Bring your shotgun, weather permitting, the trap range is opened up after the meeting.
